George Lopez was born April 23, 1961, in Mission Hills, California. When George was little his mother left him. So his grandma took care of him. She lived in a rough Mexican-American Community and George got very little attention. He has played in many movies such as; Ski Patrol in 1990 and Fatal Instinct in 1993. But the TV show that will sound the most familiar to you is "George Lopez." He has been very successful. In 2004 his stand up comedy was nominated for the Grammy Award for the Best Comedy Album. But then in 2005, George suffered from a genetic disorder (which caused his kidney's to deteriorate) and needed a kidney transplant. His wife, Ann, was the donor. If you might have wondered why George and his wife are on the commericals for the National Kidney Foundation. Well that is because after he got the transplant, the National Kidney Foundation asked him and his wife to be the spokespeople for the commercials. And last but not least, at the end of 2005 George was named "One of the Top 25 Hispanians in America" by Time magazine. I think that is good compared to the rough life he has been through and being nominated for the Grammy Award's.
